Is SRK's 'Ra.One' a Rs 150 crore affair?

Ra
Ever since 'Ra.One' was announced, there have been
speculations galore around its scale and budget.
Though the makers never went on the records
when it came to the budget spent on the film,
insiders from trade did peg this Shah Rukh Khan
starrer to be costliest ever with the making costs
comfortably crossing the 100 crore mark.
Now that the First Look of the film is out,
all doubts around the film being the most expensive ever have been quashed.

"The film hasn't become costly during the process of its making; it was always supposed to be expensive right from the time film's script was being written. Later when the process of storyboarding started, Shah Rukh and Anubhav realised that 'Ra. One 'would require much more than just 100 crores. As things stand today, the making itself has cost over 125 crore. This doesn't include Shah Rukh's remuneration as he is the film's producer as well and hence is a partner in all profits that come along", confirms an industry source on condition of anonymity.

Given the fact that even on a conservative side Shah Rukh's fees wouldn't be less than 25 crore, the cost of making 'Ra.One' elevates to a good 150 crore. This would be notches above Rajnikanth's 'Endhiran/Robot' (132 crores) which is the costliest India film ever made and Bollywood's 'Blue' which was pegged at 100 crore. Going by the super-success of 'Endhiran' which was a regional film and had a limited market in Hindi speaking circuits, the makers of 'Ra.One' are confident though that they would not just recover the amount but also make neat profits, courtesy the huge market that Shah Rukh commands.

Who is Ranbir obsessed with?

Ranbir Kapoor

Ever since he stepped into Bollywood,
Ranbir Kapoor has been linked up with
almost all the actresses he has worked with.

While some of the love stories were true,
many were just rumours. But there is one girl that
Ranbir is truly and totally crazy about.
Now before you let your imaginations run wild, let us reveal the truth.

The actor, who's become a mama after sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni delivered a baby girl recently, just can't get enough of his niece.

We hear that the actor is completely obsessed with the little girl - Samara - and spends all of his free time playing with her. Riddhima had come to her parents' house in Mumbai for the delivery and the timing couldn't have been better for Ranbir. The actor is done with the Delhi schedule of his film Rockstar with Imtiaz Ali and therefore can afford to be at home in Mumbai to be with his little angel.

Pakistan Cricket Team: New batting coach likely after West Indies tour

ISLAMABAD: Batting legend Javed Miandad’s refusal to coach the national cricket team has forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to defer the appointment of batting coach till the conclusion of the West Indies tour. An official of the PCB has informed that the PCB has deferred the appointment of batting coach till the end of West Indies series as they are unable to find a suitable bating expert at the moment. Pakistan will play five-match ODI and two-match Test series in West Indies from April 23 to May 20.

“Actually nobody in the board was expecting that Miandad will refuse this offer and everybody was considering him as a batting consultant for the squad. However, his refusal stunned the management and they did not have sufficient time to look for a batting consultant before the West Indies tour,” he said. “Pakistan will spend one month in West Indies and it is improper to name a new batting coach at this moment. We believe that the board will be in better position to name someone for this slot towards the end of this tour,” the official said.

He added the board had already started looking for a batting consultant and the top management had some names under considerations. “We are unaware about the possible candidates but the top bosses surely have some names under discussion. Hopefully these names will be made public in next few days,” he added. The issue of appointment of a batting coach was raised by skipper Shahid Afridi and other members of team management after the Pakistan batsmen failed to perform in the World Cup that concluded earlier this month in India.

Razzaq, Kamran Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad Dropped. Shahid Afridi

Lahore: Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi has hinted that batsman Ahmed Shahzad, all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and opener-cum-wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal are likely to be dropped from the Pakistan squad for the upcoming West Indies tour.

Earlier, the national selection committee failed to announce the squad even after seven-hour-long discussions, as its members were divided over the selection of some players, so the selectors will meet on Wednesday (today) to finalise the team.

Afridi discussed the formation of both Test and one-day teams for the West Indies tour that will start from April 18, where both nations will play one Twenty20 match on April 21 apart from five one-dayers and two Tests, The Nation reports.

Afridi told media persons after the meeting that it was principally decided that Shahzad, Razzaq and Kamran would be replaced by young all-rounder Hammad Azam, wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal and opening batsman Taufeeq Umar.

He conceded that it was not easy to fill the vacuum created by pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s retirement.

“I wanted his inclusion against India in the [World Cup] semi-final but he was not hundred percent fit,” he said, adding, “If Shoaib was 70% fit, he would be part of the team. But he was not.”
Afridi revealed that the morale of the players was boosted by the warm welcome they received on returning from the 2011 World Cup following their ouster in the crucial semi-final clash against India.

"It is an indication that Pakistan cricket is on the right track and on the coming tours to West Indies and Zimbabwe we can form an ideal one-day combination," he added.
